SAT & TOEFL

http://www.minerva.bg/en/tuition/language_courses/international_exams/TOEFL.html

I recently took the SAT and TOEFL exams in order to get into college. This was my first time I ever took an exam like this because I was not planning to go to college until last year. I took it for the first time as the senior and I know now that I should take it as a junior as well. I am afraid that I have waited too long.I did not realize how important the SAT was because other students always mentioned that they could take it many times in a year. In South Korea every student all over the country takes the test in the same day at the same time. It is important test too and it contains more subjects. I do know the SAT is really hard too even though there are only 3 subjects: Reading, writing, and math. I knew the test will be harder for me because English is my second language. When I was practicing the part I struggled with the most, I realized I could not learn the vocabulary that I needed to do well on the test. This was overwhelming to me since I had a short time to learn. It would take me  years to learn the necessary vocabulary to do as well as I wanted to. I regret that I was not thinking about college and did nothing for so long and now I had to do all of the preparation in few weeks for SAT. Now that have taken the test I am worried because I was very nervous and did not finish all of the parts. Some people would say to me to take another one in May, the problem with this is the next test is too late for me to attend college in the fall.

There are lots of people who do not know about the TOEFL test. It is a test for reading, writing, speaking, and listening for English. Foreign student take this test also before they can be admitted to college. While this test is not as difficult as the SAT, and the questions are somewhat easier, it still requires a good knowledge of vocabulary. Another difference in the TOEFL is that I could guess and no penalty would be taken. This made me  a little less nervous because I had more options. I can take this test again too but I really don't want to because, I think you know why.

For international students the TOEFL is more important than the SAT because they would know the student will be able to follow the classes. This is a good thing because I felt more confident about the TOEFL test than the SAT. With the SAT I felt that I had 20% correct while with the TOEFL I felt I might have 40% correct. I don't know if I am right about this, I just hope I don't have to take this again and that the college of my choice accepts my score.

I am happy with myself now even though I might not get a high enough score because I have changed so much  from last year. I was not interested in school at all-now I try harder and I am learning so much.

Thank you for reading
