King.Wu One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is talking about a group of “psychos” living in the mental institution with different mental issues. The main character Murphy who is played by Jack Nicholson tried to avoid the forcing work in the prison, therefore he pretended to be crazy, then he was delivered into the mental institution which has a nickname of Cuckoo’s Nest which was controlled by a head administrative Nurse Ratched who is a stubborn person and confines everything the patients can do. But Murphy still brought lots of fun to this dull mental hospital. Jack did a really good job on this role. It makes every one impressed by his leading those patients without any courage.
The mental institution represents a small society which was controlled by the head nurse. She uses any “ appropriate” way to stop patients from doing things they want to do. However, the coming of Murphy seems to bring some vitality to the hospital. He does his best to rebel the rules in the hospital, such as turning down the volume of music, changing the channel to Baseball, bringing patients out fishing and bringing ladies into the hospital for fun. Murphy acts like a hero who is not afraid of anything. But his actions in nurses’ opinion was diagnosed as seriously mental problems. This diagnosing makes him not be able to go back to prison because he thinks jail was much better than here. However, he is just a normal person which wants to get freedom to do what he wants.
What I like about this character is that he is not afraid of authority which is head nurse in this movie. He wants to bring energy to the hospital. He is not a selfish person and likes to share things what he knows with others.
Personally, I really like Murphy this character what he has done against the head nurse. He gives the impression that he can do anything without fear. He is the only person who is brave enough to stand up and act against to Ratched. Other patients are following the rules and doing what Ratched tells them to do. There is a scene of the nurse giving out the cigarette to a patient, this means she took all of patients’ rights and then gave it to them back when they behave better. It doesn’t make any sense in real society, but that is very common in the mental hospital. This mental hospital doesn’t give any freedom to patients. That’s why it makes Murphy so angry and he prefer to go back to jail, because he thinks here is way worse than jail.
This movie really says something worthy in your life, that’s educated for me. I believe everyone can learn something from it. Go and check it out, you won’t regret to see it.My favorite scene in this movie is when Murphy secretly takes all the patients out of the hospital. This scene represents what freedom can give people, apparently, joy, desire and lives. Without freedom, lives have lost what it initially means.
