Life Takes A lot Of Turns --JD Moore

My goal here is not to bore you guys, but as I look back on my life, I think about how proud I really am of myself, with all of the transitions, and transitions in sports.  Since I was 4 years old, I was a massive baseball player.  Built my way up, played for New Jersey state all-star when I was 8 years old all the way until I was 15 years old.  Before I get into all of the other information about baseball, I want you to keep in mind that I was a kid that did not like to be away from home, and never in a million years at that time would I of considered moving to South Carolina, away from my parents especially to play golf.

Every year, I participated on 3 baseball teams a season.  An AAU travel team, a recreational team, and an All-Star team.  I always gave it 100%, and loved the game to death.  Being 10-15 years old, constantly traveling around with 3 baseball teams, was definitely not easy at all.  Unfortunately I would have to miss some baseball games for other more important games.  But as I got older, I did get better obviously.  As a 15 year old on my township All-Star team, we won a New Jersey State Championship.  This was a huge deal back then, and still is to this day.  Unfortunately after that school year, there were a lot of parent problems on the baseball team, which then split our team up.  Personally, that is really a stupid way to break up such a talented team, and group of young professional boys.  So, we all split up, but we still keep in touch.  I continuously think of all the great times and events that we had when I was on the roster.

Now, to explain to you how I ended up where I am today.  As I decided I was done with baseball, I wanted to pick up a different hobby.  I was invited to play in a charity Rotary golf event, and of course I wanted to attend.  I loved it, that 18 holes was so much fun, and I immediately got addicted to it.  I joined the country club that was 5 minutes away, and began practicing, and getting lessons.  My coaches name was Steve, and he did an awesome job getting me to the point where I could get around the golf course without struggling too badly.  He had a short conversation with my mom on the telephone, and he said, "Well, if JD really likes this game and wants to possibly play in college, he should look into a golf academy down in SC."  Of course we were going to look into it, but I didn't know how serious we possibly could have been about it.

So, we looked into it, fairly deep.  We looked at the Hank Haney school, and did not like it one bit.  Then we found JPGA, liked what it looked like online, and flew on down to SC to visit.  I fell in love with it.  Then, we made the decision I was going to start in January.  It was a complete whirlwind.

The thing I am most proud of is the amount of progress that I have made in such a short time.  The fact that I am on D1 college coaches radar makes me feel like I have achieved my highest goal.  I came here shooting 115 in a tournament, to recently shooting 73 over the summer, and then another 75-75 here.  Coaches were shocked, and that is why I encourage everyone to try the unachievable, and believe me, if you put your head to it like I did myself, anything is possible.

I made it happen, CAN YOU?  -----JD MOORE
