Born and raised in the state of New Jersey, most people would think that I am a Giants fan, yet I am the farthest thing from it. I am a die hard Birds fan, and I am one of the regular Eagles fans, crazy, and extremely passionate for a football team. Although the Eagles did not make it past the first round in the NFL playoffs in 2014, it was the fact of watching such a young team, with so many team changes, to have such awesome team chemistry to make it this far this season.
Last year, in the 2012-2013 season, we were under head coach Andy Reid. He was our coach from the early 2000's, and took us to a SuperBowl in 2004, which we unfortunately lost. Jeffrey Lurie, owner of the Philadelphia Eagles decided that it was best to fire Andy Reid after a 4-12 season in 2012. Then the hardest part comes, finding a new head coach, that will have a game plan to fix a team with not that good of a defense.
The Eagles, then hired head coach from the University of Oregon, Chip Kelly, and it was probably the best thing we could have done since making the SuperBowl in 2004. Chip Kelly, known for the no huddle offense, had to incorporate a new staff, offense/defense, and make sure everyone on the roster was on the same page for the beginning of the season. Chip Kelly was put into a football team, that was very different than the Oregon Ducks, and had to make this team to the best of his ability. After reviewing this past 2013-2014 season, it is safe to say Chip Kelly gave it 125% and made the team as best as possible.
The Philadelphia Eagles finished the season 10-6, after an unfortunate playoff loss (I was at the game), to tack on one more loss. So, a 10-7 season, immediately after a 4-12 season is un heard of. We were only supposed to win 6 games this season, but Chip Kelly is making this team something special. Chip Kelly now, after one year of NFL experience, is ready to take this young talented team to the SuperBowl next year. Also, Chip can now build a roster to his offense, and the players he wants on his team. He can draft players that he wants in April, and sign players that he wants in free agency. The Eagles currently need to sign or draft most importantly a Safety, Defensive End, and another wide receiver. Since Chip Kelly has come to Philadelphia, us fans of Philadelphia have become more and more excited for every season, and we have the energy to make this team special.
Luckily for Chip Kelly, he snagged one of the only 32 head coaching spots in the NFL. As this may be nothing but gibberish for non Eagles fans, and people that do not even know anything about the NFL, this is definitely the one thing that I am most passionate about. Words cannot explain how pumped I am for the 2014-2015 season, because I know that this year, will be our year. Mark us down for your SuperBowl picks in 2015. #FLYEAGLESFLY
Thanks for the heads-up, JD. I care almost nothing about football, but when I place a bet on the Eagles next year and make a million dollars, I'll be sure to give you all the credit. -KCH
