In today’s age, we have the most elaborate forms of technology, transportation, communication, protection, and medicine, right on our fingertips. More importantly, the life expectancy of the average person has nearly doubled, throughout the past 100 years. Not only is almost every country in the world quickly industrialization they're land, for better or worse, but as a planet we have been able to co-exist with everyone through social media, sports, World news, and strife through warfare.
I was looking for an article to respond to the other day when I came across a post that read, "3-D printing tries to find a home". This article is about third dimensional printers in todays households and offices, which prints out PLA plastic into designs, toys, fashion accessories, and fine art. The company is also created a printer, which, "creates complex shapes out of edible materials such as sugar and chocolate and will cost less than $5,000." Not only have advanced gadgets improved, but also have futuristic forms of transportation taken development, with aids such as GPS's, electric and solar panel functioned cars, and even rearview warning cameras. We now have Jets, which can hit speeds of 1500 mph, and planes that weigh more than 600 tons.
None of this weighs in on what medical fields of today are bringing to the table. With innovations such as water purifiers, saving lives of millions in 3rd World Countries, and robotic limbs to give amputees a feeling again, the medical technology of our time, should be masterfully appreciated. Innovators globally have given us machines that can produce full melanoma biopsies, helping prevent skin cancer, electronic aspirin, which has a substantially higher impact than the average pill, needles-free diabetes care, and a new transcatheter aortic heart valve procedure called "The Sapien", where “The Sapien valve is guided through the femoral artery by catheter from a small incision near the grown or rib cage…a simpler procedure that promises dramatically shorter hospitalizations is bound to have a positive effect on the cost of care.” Its no wonder how our life span has gone from 31 in the early 20th century to 67 in 2010 worldwide.
Globally we have walked the moon, used telescopes to see universes lightyears from the past and present, and we have found ways to connect with people from across the World. Every four years, qualified countries are selected to compete in a tournament of soccer called the World Cup. These matches feature some of the best players in the World, competing for the title of greatest team in the World. Though not every country competes, this competition received over 3.2 billion views in 2010, which the most of any event of all time! This cup shows how we can all come together, to view one stage, almost giving us a sense of global unity. We also can reach out to each other through social media. Take Facebook, the home of about one billion users, from almost every country in world. You can use Facebook to message and meet people from any country of your choice. Communication with any countryman in the World, at your disposal. Youtube is another site, where people from all over can broadcast their videos to users all over the World. More than one billion users visit Youtube monthly, and its used in over 61 countries and across 61 languages.
Though the place I live and the World is not perfect, it is our home. We must peacefully unite and work to end violence, which halts useful production in anywhere. Why must mankind fight through warfare and lives, in efforts to be better than the opposer, when we all live such short lives. Why cant people just work together to better everyone, because in reality, we are not all to different. We are all humans of the same blood, body, and emotion, but for some reason, we choose to hate. Peace be with you always! And be blessed to know your in a World with such advantageous technology.
