Long time ago a famous person said:
“Times change and we change with them.” And there is no denying that when times
change the circumstances will change with them.
When the circumstances changed, we’d better change our mind with it.
Because sometimes remaining consistence will lead you to failure and changing
your mind can make you succeed.
Remaining consistence when the circumstances change will make you fail.
An excellent example for this is the Eastman Kodak Company, which suffered from
huge lost because of not changing their mind when circumstances changed. Eastman Kodak Company,
commonly known as Kodak, is an American technology company focused on imaging
solutions and services for businesses. The company is famous
for making film camera and made huge a mount of money from it. But the time
changed and circumstances also changed. After a few years, the digital camera,
which does not need film to store photos, came out. People no longer needed film.
Several years later after the birth of digital camera, the Kodak Company lost
almost all of the markets. The company finally bankrupted. From the Kodak
Company’s example we can figure out that if you do not change your mind when
the circumstances change, you will fail and be eliminated by time.
Changing your mind when
the circumstances change will make you succeed. Carroll Hall Shelby (January 11, 1923 – May 10, 2012) was
an American automotive designer, racing driver and entrepreneur. He was best
known for his involvement with the AC Cobra and later the Mustang-based
performance cars for Ford Motor Company known as Shelby Mustangs which he had
done since 1965. His company, Shelby American Inc., founded in 1962, currently sells
modified Ford vehicles, as well as performance parts. In his early life, he was
a race car driver race for the Cad-Allard, Aston Martin and Maserati teams
during the 1950s. The highlight of his racing career came in 1959, when he
co-drove an Aston-Martin DBR1 (with Englishman Roy Salvadori) to victory in the
24 Hours of Le Mans. During this race he noticed the performance of an English GT
car built by AC Cars, known as the Bristol. This was also very helpful for his
changing.
After one race, his doctor
told him that his body could not afford the exciting race any more, which meant he had to end his racing career. His living circumstances had greatly changed.
He could not make a living by racing. Then he changed his mind. He started to
be a racing car designer and after a few years he founded Shelby American Inc. Nowadays
the Shelby is famous for its high performance rear wheel drive
muscle cars and every car lover throughout the world know it. Consider, if
Carroll did not change his mind when the circumstances took place, we would not
have these fantastic cars now.
Just like what that great man said, times are changing and we must
change with it. The circumstances are changing we should also change with it.
Or we will be eliminated by times.
