Parks and Recreation is a funny, heart warming Tv show and within a matter of episodes you will be drawn in. I was looking for a funny show that I would enjoy watching in my free time, little did I know that I would be sucked in and unable to go one day without watching it. Parks and Rec made me laugh and cry at the same time and not a lot of things can make me do that.
(The cast of Parks and Rec) |
Each and every single character is different in an appealing way. The first season starts off with Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) a government employee, who works for the parks department. Leslie meets Anne Perkins (Rashida Jones) who is a nurse for the local hospital. Leslie promises Anne that she will build a park in the empty lot next to her house, so that no one else will get hurt while falling into it as Annes boyfriend Andy (Chris Pratt) did. The show then goes on about how Anne and Leslie develop a friendship. Along with the rest of the park team and other associates that work in the government. Season 1 is just a stepping stone for the other 7 seasons.

Each actor really develops over time, they play a character that is both funny and heartfelt. Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) is annoyingly enthusiastic all the time, she loves her job a little to much, but doesn't care because thats just who she is. She is a feminist and has a picture wall of all the females who ever had anything to do with Government. Leslie is a waffle lover who has a huge dorky heart. Anne Perkins (Rashida Jones) is a bland character at first, but over time she begins to have some character development. Anne has her ups and downs through out the show but by the end of season 7 she is doing really great. Andy Dwyer (Chris Pratt) is a big lovable goof ball that has ups and downs. His Character will always keep you laughing. April Ludgate (Aubrey Plaza) dates Andy in season 3 through out the end of the show, she is a dark person that enjoys being well... dark. She does care about a lot things and has trouble showing it, she is socially awkward but in the best way, her dark humor adds only good to the show. Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman) is Leslie's boss and he hates the government and most people. He thinks Leslie is annoying but he loves her and all of his employees. Ron also plays a sort of dark character but his dry humor and sarcasm only adds to the show.

If I had to chose my ultimate favorite episode (keep in mind I love every single episode). But lets say someone said they were gonna kidnap my dog if I didn't tell them what my favorite episode of Parks and Rec then of course i’d say the episode when Lil Sebastian dies. On prior episodes we are introduced to a very old miniature horse and he is in fact Lil Sebastian. Everyone in this town loves Lil Sebastian, I mean like they are utterly obsessed with him. If you got to meet him in real life it was like meeting a celebrity to these people. So Lil Sebastian dies of old age and it devastates everyone, but at the same time they all come together to pull of this elaborate funeral/concert in honor of this miniature horse, Andy sings this really amazing song and every time I listen to it I want to laugh and cry, and Ron says this really great speech about Lil Sebastian. They had to overcome a lot to finally get everything working smoothly and after that episode they referred to that song that Andy sang as the one that brought everyone together and they sing it again on multiple occasions and it bring everyone together every time. By far one of my favorite episode.

I find it really hard to criticize this show mainly because I love it and there are not a lot of things I would change about it. In fact there is only one thing I would change about it and it is that I would make the episodes longer, originally they are 20 minutes long but i’d make it so that they are 40 minutes long. Honestly I don't think there is anything I would change about it.

The acting in on point. Personally I can relate to this show, because the people are just people. Their lives are complicated and have ups and downs. You fall in love with each and every single character. I don't think I have one favorite episode, mainly because they are all so great. By the end of the next episode I cant wait to watch the next. There's a storyline but it gets off topic sometimes and personally I think its okay, because its add some room to be flexible with the show. You learn more about the Character this way. Overall this show made me laugh and I always had a smile on my face when i watched it. I would rate in a 9 out of 10.
